Central Plaza posts higher profit

Central Plaza Hotel's net profit rose 28 per cent to Bt397 million last year, compared to Bt310 million in 2006.

Revenue increased by 6.5 per cent to Bt7.2 billion from Bt6.7 billion in 2006 on 11.4percent growth in its hotel business. Its fast service restaurant business grew 3.5 per cent to Bt4.3 billion compared to Bt2.9 billion in 2006.

The company decided to renovate and upgrade its hotels during a slowdown in business due to the political uncertainty.

The upgrades are expected generate room rates at least 10percent higher for each property.
