PAD criticises Samak government

Thailand is on the verge of plunging into a turmoil once again because the government is bent on fixing the judicial system in order to help former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra elude the law, the People's Alliance for Democracy said Wednesday.

The PAD has planned to soon organise a convention of opponents of the Thaksin regime to assess the situation and map out counter measures against the Samak Sundaravej administration which it sees as acting like a puppet.

In voicing concern on the deteriorating situation, it has claimed that the government is trying to rescue Thaksin from his legal wrangling by either of the two ways - amending the Constitution and the relevant laws to wipe out the charges or staging a "selfinflicted coup" to cancel all graft proceedings involving Thaksin.
