Chatree vows to stay on as Medical Science Dept chief and fight corruption allegation

Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsub urges Department of Medical Science chief Dr Chatree Banchuen, who would soon be transferred to serve as acting secretary-general of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), not to quit from his current position.

"I do not permit him to quit from his position," Chaiya said briefly on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Chatree said the Health Minister has stopped him from quitting from his position but he felt uncomfortable to decide to continue his work at the ministry.

Chatree was accused of corruption in a computer procurement case. The case is currently under investigation by the National Counter Corruption Commission.

"I've already forgive those who accused me. But since they do not stop defaming, now I decide to stay on and fight to reveal about bad behaviour of those who try to defame me and have benefits from the procurement project," he said.
