No plan to dismiss BOT Governor

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee insisted on Monday that he has no plan to dismiss Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Watanagase as rumoured.

He also denied the rumour that he would bring the proposed dismissal to the Cabinet for approval tomorrow.

"In the past two weeks, I have discussed with the BOT governor on the capital reserve requirement. We agreed that it is the right time to abolish the measure. We have worked together and at the time being, there is no reason to dismiss her," he told reporters.

On rumour that Securities and Exchange Commission Secretary General Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala would replace Tarisa, Surapong said it was just an expectation from outsiders. The finance minister said he could not control outside expectation.
