Students will not be allowed to sit the exams if they fail to produce the ID card carrying their candidate number, or if they go to the wrong examination hall, the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS), which conducts the test, warned yesterday.
This year as many as 360,000 graduates of Grade 12 or equivalent have applied to take the test, which is required for enrolment at institutes of higher learning. Because of the large number of candidates, there are many exam venues.
NIETS director Utumporn Jamornmann said as many as 10,000 students might miss taking the test because their names had been accidentally left out from the list of candidates submitted by their school, while some in non-formal education courses might not know they have to apply to take the Onet themselves.
"Some graduates mistakenly think that the organi-sers of the non-formal
educational courses will do their application," Utumporn said.
She said schools that had left out names must contact NIETS by Monday.
"We will hold a separate test for these students," Utumporn said.
However, the delay might mean that these students do not get their results before admissions open.
