Reserves higher at US$95.4 bn

Thailand's foreign reserves as of February 22 stood at US$95.4 billion, compared to $94.4 billion a week earlier, according to the Bank of Thailand.

Net forward positions on the day also rose to $24 billion, from $23.2 billion on February 15.

The reserves are increasing in light of the weakening of dollar, which prompted inflows as well as dollar sale among exporters. To stabilise the baht, the Bank of Thailand needs to buy into the greenback.
