JBIC's loan contract to be signed in March
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee affirmed on Thursday that Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Finance Ministry will sign the borrowing contract worth Bt18 billion in March.
The loan agreement will be the initial part of a Bt30billion JBIC loan to finance the Purple Line electric rail project, he said. The loan will carry the interest rate of 1.4 per cent per annum.
Yesterday, he met with representatives from JBIC.
The ministry is currently in negotiations about the lending fee with JBIC, said Surapong.
"The Finance Ministry would like JBIC to waive the fee and this results in the delayed signing," he said.
