Courts Singapore closes Thai operations

Retailer Courts Singapore could take a $15-million-Singaporean-dollar (Bt345 million) hit from the closing of its loss-making operations in Thailand, reports The Straits Times.

The firm told the Singapore Exchange it had no choice but to end its Thai operations "in view of the difficult trading conditions and the unstable political situation".

Income rise seen

Diamond Roofing Tiles expects this year's sales revenue to expand 10 per cent on a higher focus on exports and supplies of construction material to housing projects, said managing director Asanee Chantong. Last year, the company posted a net profit of Bt393 million, up 25 per cent from 2006. Sales revenue reached Bt2.59 billion, up 7.92 per cent from Bt2.4 billion before.
