PPP upbeat to defend Yongyuth

The People Power Party remains upbeat that House Speaker Yongyuth Tiyapairat could clear his name for involving in the campaign violations in Chiang Rai, PM's Office Minister Choosak Sirinin on Tuesday.

"The Election Commission did not reach an unanimous decision to charge Yongyuth, therefore I see a chance for overcoming the legal hurdle," he said in reference to the ruling by a majority vote of threetotwo.

The main coalition party would assist Yongyuth in preparing his defence on votebuying charges, he said.

The EC is expected to file its petition with the Supreme Court in two weeks to disqualify Yongyuth.
