Thitirat Seemuk, 32, confessed to police that she had lured other people to invest their money with her by buying a new car and delivering it to her. She told them she would lease their car to other people and they would get the income. In fact the cars were not leased out, and many were sold to other people, sometimes in neighbouring countries.

Thitirat established the Rattaphan Travel Company as a car-leasing firm

to set the trap. She sold the victims' cars to other people as second-hand without the permission of the owners. "She confessed that she just wanted more money," said Nakrob.

The Metropolitan Police have also arrested Jantarat Kulasabtejit, who ran a similar scam.

Police said Jantarat had used Yufuku Decorating Co to lure people to invest money by buying a new car and delivering it to the company for lease to others. Investors were promised high returns, but Yufuku was later shut down and the victims never reimbursed.
