High-end watch retail boutique Yafiro recently hosted an event to launch the latest collection of timepieces by Parmigiani Fleurier of Switzerland and also introduce a special collection marking His Majesty the King's 80th birthday anniversary.

Just nine each of the Kalpa Grande Palladium, Kalpa Tonda 39mm and Tonda 38mm in Rose Gold are being made as part of this limited-edition collection of men's watches. Proceeds from sales will go to charities supported by His Majesty as well as to the Chaipattana Foundation.

Among the male guests to lend their wrists at the launch were HSH Prince Chulcherm Yugala, ML Natthasit Diskul and ML Kathathong Thongyai.

Showing off the latest collection for the ladies in the fashion show were honorary models MR Mannarumas Yugala, Noppaporn Nasylvanta, Maytaya Huaihongthong, Pranapda Pornprapha, Sikanya Saktidej Bhanubandh, Dr Catherine Maleenont, Lapapida Lorkitiqakul and Wongchanok Chivasiri. The luxury timepieces on display included the Kalpa Donna Blue Metal, the Donna Macchiato and the Kalpagraph Diamond.

Jean Marc Jacot, CEO and president of Parmigiani Fleurier, says Parmigiani is dedicated to creating finely made timepieces with the highest Swiss watchmaking standards of design and sophistication.

"Parmigiani has 100-per-cent in-house movement and case manufacturing capabilities that set it apart from other watchmakers," he noted.

Later in the evening, Salisar Eiammanoch, director of Yafiro International, announced the first Thai recipient of the prestigious Parmigiani Woman of Exception award. The 2008 Woman of Exception is Vanessa Race, teacher at and founder of the Vanessa School, a kindergarten that uses innovative methods of education.

The award honours women for their work in four categories: lifestyle, the arts, science, and business and finance.
