FIDF sells BT this year

The Financial Institutions Development Fund expects to sell its 42.1 per cent stake in BankThai by the end of this year, the fund's manager said Friday.

The FIDF is seeking financial advisors to help it find appropriate investors for BankThai, said Tong-urai Limpiti, who is also a senior director of the central bank.

BankThai has suffered dearly from losses in the investment in US financial papers. Earlier, TPG Newbridge Group stepped in. With partners, it holds 42 per cent in the Thai bank.
