At the close, the Stock Exchange of Thailand Index stood at 826.86 points. Turnover on Friday was Bt14.7 billion.

The Thai market was down as investors feared of the spill-over effect from the US economic sldowdown, following the notion of a possible rate cut to spur growth.

PTT Aromatics and Refining (PTTAR) was the most active stock on Friday, with turnover of Bt1.5 billion or 10 per cent of total turnover. It gained Bt1.25 to close at Bt41.50, buoyed by the sharp increase of its annualised net profit from Bt13.2 billion in 2006 to Bt18 billion.
