Deputy prime ministers Somchai Wongsawat and Sanan Kachornprasart are tasked with reducing people's cost burden. That includes developing a security net to reduce the risks for farmers' losses.

They are also responsible for improving the land rights system, boosting home ownership and expanding the role of the "Fix-it Centre", in which students do voluntary service.

Surapong will also be responsible for policies designed to increase income as well as broadening the potential of the Village Fund, designating budgets that reflect the size of each community. He will try to boost the efficiency of making community products.

Surapong will oversee the People's Bank projects and organise the suspension of debts for farmers and the poor, while promoting loans for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Deputy prime ministers Sahas Banditkul and Suwit Khunkitti are in charge of government spending and investment, including the mass-transit system, the rail logistics system and international airports, while organising the expansion of and improvements to the nation's irrigation systems.

They are also responsible for improving the laws related to foreign investment. Sanan will have the additional task of helping increase income by promoting tourism in 2008-2009.

Sahas is assigned to follow up on environmental issues.
