Nok Air aborts flight

Nok Airlines flight DD9311 was aborted just before takeoff from Ubon Ratchathani Airport yesterday morning after it was discovered to have a fractured windshield.

Passengers switched to a Thai Airlines International flight to Bangkok while the defective plane was nursed to Don Meuang Airport for repairs.

The budget airline flight was set to take off at 8.35am when the captain noticed a crack on the left corner of the windshield and asked all 106 passengers to change to flight TG1023, which left at 2.40pm. While most passengers transferred, 32 had their tickets refunded.

Aviation regulations authorise the captain to cancel a flight if an abnormality is found, no matter how slight.
