HP looks to growth in double digits

HewlettPackard (Thailand) has set a direction to increase its revenue at double-digit growth this year, expecting that government, telecommunications, banking and small and medium businesses will be key markets for information technology.

HP's managing director Sanpat Sopon said the firm this year would focus on capturing all customer segments and offering new products and services to every business group.

He said the firm had divided its business into three groups: technology products, personal systems and imaging and printing.

The firm has announced new services under the business technology concept which provides adaptive infrastructure, technology optimisation and business information optimisation. The firm will also provide IT consultancy to customers on a continuous basis and offer new service oriented architecture for enterprises.

Meanwhile, there will be a new line of products including blade PCs as well as blade servers and thin clients.

Sanpat said a programme to support the requirements of SMEs would be launched with a full circle of personalised services for every stage of the computer lifecycle starting from purchase, use, protection and transition.

The firm has also developed a strategy to expand its digital publishing platform to allow faster printing while saving costs as well as allowing convenient printing of digital content from the Web. "In 2008 we aim to be the first choice of all customers since we have comprehensive product portfolios," said Sanpat.

He said the firm this year expects to increase revenue from last year with an emphasis on developing distribution channels to expand the market as well as conducting marketing campaigns that can reach a larger group of customers with customisation to support customers' needs.

Sanpat said the Thai IT market and industry this year will have huge opportunities in government, telecommunications, banking and SME markets since the government and telecom sectors last year delayed investment in new projects.
