Speaker leaker faces action

Election Commissioner Sodsri Sattayatham yesterday threatened to take disciplinary and criminal action against officials who leaked information on the disqualification of House Speaker Yongyuth Tiyapairat.

Sodsri said she wanted to know how the information was leaked from the EC panel, who leaked it and why. "The panel has not yet resolved the investigation as the news had stated," she said.

Sodsri said she would set up a fact-finding panel to question the panel headed by Suwit Theerapon because whoever leaked the information would be regarded as having leaked state secrets and must face disciplinary and criminal action, she said.

She said leaking such information was also sensitive as it could create an adverse impact on Yongyuth and the economy. "The stock index may be affected and the country's stability could be impacted," she said.
