The English Premier League outfit sanctioned the loan transfer of Suree Sukha, Kiatprawut Saiwaeo and Teerasil Daengda after the trio's applications for work permit were rejected. With the window for loaning players in Europe closing today, the Thais were in a hurry yesterday to sign documents in order to enrol themselves with the Swiss Football Association.
The Swiss Super League side has agreed to pay the trio the salary they were promised by City, each around Bt300,000 per month.
Having had his future sorted out, fullback Suree is looking forward to the challenge with the Swiss club, currently lying in third place in the top-flight league.
"It's as good as it could get after it became clear we would not obtain a work permit at present. I will try my best even though breaking into the club's first-team squad would not be easy. It would be a virtually new world. We need to learn many things: language, food and new surroundings. I might not be at the top of my form as I have not played for a while," Suree said.
Young centreback Kiatprawut echoed Suree's sentiment.
"I'm relieved that everything has now been cleared. Now we know where our future lies. I was training with my former club Chon Buri for the past weeks without any idea of what lies ahead," Kiatprawut said.
Representatives from Manchester City yesterday also gave the three their overdue salary for two-and-a-half months of Bt750,000 each. The Thais had signed the contract in November but were yet to receive their salaries.
