Remarkable video works by New Yorkbased, Hong Kongborn artist Paul Chan will be on display at the new Conference of Birds Gallery in Silom.

Opening at 7pm tomorrow, "Paul Chan: Art and Activism" features five pieces including works he filmed in Iraq. Also, Chan collaborated with the collective Friends of William Blake to produce "The People's Guide to the Republican National Convention" (2004), a free foldout map detailing everything a protester needed to get in or out of the way during the political party's meeting in New York.

Also on display is documentation and ephemera from his critically acclaimed fall 2007 staging of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" in postHurricane Katrina New Orleans.

The show runs until March 13. The gallery is at 131/18 Pan Road, off Sathorn Road. It's open from noon to 8pm from Monday to Friday and 2pm to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Prasong's new style

Still riding the momentum of his soldout retrospective show last year, veteran painter Prasong Luemuang returns to Number 1 Gallery in Silom Galleria with a collection of works he has created over the past year.

Opening at 6.30pm tomorrow, "Prasong Luemuang 2007" depicts his signature portrayals of the simple ways of rural life. There is also a collection of portraits in a new style.

The show runs until March 15. The gallery is on B1 floor of Silom Galleria is open from 10am to 7pm daily.

Romance in the air

Extending the celebration of Valentine's Day, top Thai artists led by Burin Boonwisut of Groove Rider will delight music lovers with romantic rock ballads in a concert at 7pm tomorrow at Thammasat University's Auditorium.

The "Every Day I Love U" show features Burin, Boy Tri from Friday I'm in Love, Phurit "Yai" Sukumalchan from Monotone, Anusorn "Yhong" Maneetet from Armchair, "Koy" Saturday Seiko and Katto and Tan from Lipta.

Tickets are Bt500, Bt800, Bt1,200, Bt1,500 and Bt2,000 and are available from Thaiticketmajor.

Shall we play a game?

The latest software from gaming manufacturers will be launched in the annual Thailand Game Show 2008 in Plenary Halls 1 and 2 of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre from Thursday until February 24.

Highlights include Dark Storm and a new version of Titan from Jaya Soft Vision, Huang Yi Online from Fun Box, Special Force by True Digital Entertainment and Audition from Asiasoft Corporation.

The runnerup of Silver Coin's "Amotel" team will show off their talent with their "Winning Eleven" game, while the gamers can participate in competitions and cosplay contests. Also on offer are comic books from Siam Inter Comic and hitech toys. There are talks on many topics by game producers.

Entrance fee is Bt30. The show runs from 10am to 8pm.
