SET down on economic worries

The Thai stock market closed 0.66 per cent lower on Friday, on worries of the US recession.

SET down on economic worries

The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index fell 5.46 points to 826.65.

On Thursday night, US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke forecasted "a period of sluggish growth" in the US economy. He also kept the door open to further cuts.

Further rate cuts will widen the spread of US rate and those in other countries and lead to outflows to the countries that offer higher rates.
