Secretary-general Anant Phusitthikul said yesterday the project, to be managed by EM Agriculture Partnership, would involve contract farming.

Three crops of cherry tomatoes can be harvested in a year, generating an income for farmers of between Bt7,000 and Bt10,000 per rai, he said.

The project will focus on farmers in land reform areas in Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan and Nakhon Pathom provinces.

IT City profit down 7.7 per cent

IT City has blamed economic conditions for a 7.71-per-cent drop in annualised net profit in 2007, to Bt161.88 million.

In the same period, its revenue grew by 6.49 per cent to Bt5.56 billion.

Chairman Kamol Juntima yesterday said the company's competitiveness was still satisfactory. This year, it will open five new IT centres, making a total of 36. At the same time, it will cut expenses.

"With comprehensive products and a focus on our specialty - the IT retail business - we expect to achieve economies of scale that will enable us to supply consumers and SME customers with IT products to increase their business and learning abilities."
