Intharat elected interim leader of Matchima

The executive board of Matchima Thipataya Party has elected chief adviser Intharat Yodbangtoey as interim party leader and scheduled February 24 for a party convention to install the new leadership, party secretary general Anongwan Thepsuthin said on Wednesday.



"The problems within the party will not impact on the coalition alliance and the status of miministers under Matchima's quotas," she said.

Anongwan, who holds the position of Natural Resources and Environment minister, voiced optimism that the upcoming installation of new leadership would save her party from being dismantled because of linkage to electoral fraud committed by a party executive.
