798 Space

798 Space is a new, rising, trendy, avantgarde space that hosts highlevel cultural, artistic and commercial events. Located in the Dashanzi Art District, an area to the northeast of central Beijing, the space, which opens everyday, is the heart of a growing art and cultural community in Beijing.

It was designed by East German architects in the Bauhaus style in the early 1950's. Through reconstruction and redesign with contemporary aesthetics by various artists, the space combines the socialist cultural past with the present and future of the "New China."
