Checks on 'hot' coffee

A coffee said to enhance male libido will be recalled if a scientific study finds the claim baseless, Food and Drugs Administration deputy chief Niphon Phophatthanachai said yesterday.

He said the producers and distributors of Magic Men Coffee would face a three-year jail term and/or a Bt30,000 fine for making false claims.

They also face a Bt5,000 fine if the study finds any aphrodisiacs in the coffee but not mentioned on the label; and another two-year prison term and/or a Bt20,000 for adding these aphrodisiacs.
