Local trade-show boost

Event organiser Kavin Intertrade is staging three trade shows in Bangkok this month that are expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors.

Thai Franchise & SME Expo 2008, Thailand Coffee Tea and Drinks 2008 and Thailand Bakery and Ice Cream 2008 are being held at MCC Hall at The Mall Bang Kapi from February 21-24 under a three-in-one concept.

Managing director Kavin Kittiboonya yesterday said the company expected to attract 30,000 visitors from all over the country and hoped to earn revenue of Bt120 million.

More than 100 companies have reserved 170 booths. Forty per cent of exhibitors are manufacturers and sellers of drinks, bakery products and ice cream. The rest are small and medium-sized operators and franchisees from the food, beauty, spa, jewellery, retail, information technology, digital, entertainment, vending and printing sectors.

There will also be a Thailand Barista Championship, and the winner will go through to the International Barista Championship in Denmark in June.

Kavin said SME business in Thailand would grow along with the macroeconomy, so the events would be a good opportunity for sellers and buyers to discuss business cooperation.

These events will also help entrepreneurs to set up their own businesses with a minimum investment of Bt10,000, he added.

Seminars will tell visitors how to set up a new business and how to keep it growing.
