The CDD report said that last year about 29.9 million rural people, or 7.7 million households, had an average income of Bt135,325.39 per household per year, or about Bt34,900 per head per year.
In general, each family had average expenses of Bt69,764 per household per year or Bt18,025 per head per year, mostly for meals and production costs.
Rural people had approximately Bt18,786 debt per family and only about Bt7,353 savings per family, Preecha said.
Nonthaburi had the highest income, at Bt263,531 per family per year, whilst Chumphon earned the lowest. at Bt75,152 per family per year.
Chiang Mai had the highest expenses, at Bt120,839 per family per year, whilst Rayong folk spent the least, at Bt17,827 per family per year.
Kanchanaburi people were the biggest money-savers, at Bt20,710.17 per household per year, whilst Mae Hong Son residents saved the least, at Bt1,674 per family per year.
He said that this data would be useful for the new government to plan solutions for economic problems and improve the quality of life and living standards by creating jobs and educating people on money management.
