Requiem in honour of Princess

The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation and the National Culture Commission in association with the Choral Association and Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana's retinue will organise a requiem in memory of the Princess.

The concert will be held on February 21 at 8pm at the Thailand Cultural Centre.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside.

Music director Hikotaro Yazaki will conduct the orchestra. There will be 125 chorus members from The Voices and the Thai Youth Choir.

The programme includes Bach, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Narong Prangcharoen and John Rutter.

There will be a candlelight procession.

Sopranos Monique Klongtruadroke and Teeranai na Nong Khai will be guest artists.

Monique, an Italian-Thai, gra-

duated from Venice's Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello. She has soloed in the US, Italy and Thailand.

Teeranai is a leading vocalist. Though classically trained, Teeranai recently had a leading role in the Thai musical "Khoo Kama".

The Voices is a 50-member chorus group. It received a silver at the World Choir Games 2006 in Xiamen, China and a gold at the Asian Choir Games 2007 in Jakarta.

The National Culture Commission manages the 80-strong Youth Choir.
