Good growth likely for event management

The outlook for event management is a return to the same high value as in 2006, driven by the new government and private-sector projects that will spend more on arranging events, CM Organiser chief executive Sermkhun Kunawong said yesterday.

He said value this year should grow 14 per cent from last year's Bt12 billion, which dropped 10 per cent from 2006.

The government is focusing on populist policies and trying to boost the economy, he said, adding that the tourism industry will also be one of the tools to achieve these goals.

Therefore, event organisers this year have great opportunities to do business, especially from the government and the travel sector.

Sermkhun said the event-management sector would experience a 25-per-cent slowdown this quarter. However, it is expected to start recovering in the second quarter.
