Pansak-Nipat-Olarn reportedly Samak's advisors

Pansak Viyaratn and Nipat Pukkanasut, two key men in the Thaksin era, are reportedly staging a comeback to the Thai economic scene as economic advisors to the new government.

A source from the People Power Party told Krungthep Turakij that another person to form the economic advisory team is Olarn Chaipravat, former president of Siam Commercial Bank.

The source said that ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra himself nominated the three persons to newly-appointed Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, so that the team could provide advice to the Finance Ministry and work on economic policies which would support another life line to populist policies.

"After the official announcement next week, they will work closely with Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee," the source said.

In The Thaksin era, Pansak was made chairman of the Thailand Creative & Design Centre, a unit under the Office of Knowledge Management Development which was criticised of overspending.

Nipat was also made chairman of the Vayupak Funds Investment Committee, which oversees Vayupak Fund which invests mainly in state enterprises.
