THAI chairman resigns

Thai Airways International Chairman Chalit Pukbhasuk has tendered his resignation from the national carrier, effective Friday.

"I believe that other board members will probably follow suit," Chalit told reporters after the airline's board meeting Thursday.

It has become a norm for directors of state enterprises to resign, after the formation of a new government so that the new government can appoint someone deemed supportive to its national agenda.

THAI is owned 51 per cent by the Finance Ministry.

Gen Saprang Kalayanamitr is also expected to resign as chairman of TOT Plc and Airports of Thailand Plc.
