Niphon attacked Samak for his "quick mouth" saying as PM he must give clear policy on how to solve violence in the south and not to recklessly give public comment.
"Comments from PM are regarded as giving a signal or policy to officials. Being PM, he must think carefully and be responsible before making any statement. He should not just give whatever comment when he is asked to,'' he said.
The criticism came after Samak commented that he was interested in the suggestion made by Piset Sathirachawan, secretary of the Central Islamic Committee, that Samak recall all weapons held by civilians in the South within three months.
All weapons possessed by civilians - whether owned with or without permission - should be recalled according to Piset.
After that, he said, if anyone is caught with a hidden arsenal, they should be severely punished and maybe even executed.
Samak said he was interested in the idea, but said the toughest measure should be life imprisonment.
