Wadah on South

Members of the Wadah faction plan to meet up with Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and propose a resolution for the trouble-plagued South.

Published on February 6, 2008

Faction leader Areephen Uttrasin said yesterday he and other members, would arrange to meet Samak before the government declares its policies to the House. He hoped the three Wadah MPs would be able to drum up more ideas in the House debate later.

Though three members of the Wadah faction - which is part of the People Power Party - won the election, they were not given any Cabinet posts. However, Areephen said his group was not upset at missing out on these positions because they still had standing in the House.

"We did not qualify for Cabinet posts, because in politics, factions that have more money have better negotiating powers," he said.

However, he said the three Wadah MPs expected to be made chairmen of three House committees.
