Thai woman arrested while delivering drugs at a skytrain station

Police has arrested a Thai woman who allegedly picked up a package of automobile parts containing 1.6 kilograms of cocaine from Bolivia for her husband to distribute it to Thai customers.

Thanyanant Khomkham, 28, was arrested at the Bangkok's Asoke Skytrain station while she was allegedly delivering the package to an unidentified customer there, Lt-General Wuth Liptapanlop, head of the anti-narcotics department, told a press conference on Wednesday.

On January 28, officials in Miami, United States, discovered that a package containing cocaine was sent from Bolivia to a recipient named Thanyanant Khomkham in Pathum Thani. The US Drug Enforcement Agency tipped their Thai counterparts to make an arrest, he said.

Undercover officials delivered the package to Thanyanant's Pathum Thani home, which she then took to the Skytrain station. However, the customer did not show up and police arrested Thanyanant and seized the drugs. Thanyanant then reportedly confessed that she received the drug from her husband identified only as "Tony" to deliver to Thai retailers.
