The centre expects sales of food and non-food items for the ceremonies to reach Bt4.6 billion, up 4.5 per cent. Elderly Thai-Chinese are expected to give Bt6.4 billion as ang pao, or "lucky money". Marketing activities in the city are expected to generate another Bt2.4 billion from spending. The remainder will come from domestic travel, the centre said.
