Officials to check bird-flu measures

Charoen Pokphand Foods executive vice president Teerasak Urunanon yesterday said department director-general Sakchai Sriboonsue would observe operating systems, to ensure that chicken products were safe from the viral disease.

Chicken supplies in the manufacturing plant come from closed-operation farms, which maintain stringent entry restrictions.

The company's traceability will allow inspectors to check all stages of the process in case of a problem.

Nokia Siemens wins GSM contract

Nokia Siemens Networks has won a contract to expand the GSM network for Advanced Info Service (AIS), including solutions to help it evolve towards advanced mobile-phone services in the near future.

Under the one-year contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will be responsible for maintenance services for both hardware and software. The AIS network continues to be supported by the multiple-vendor, multiple-technology Net Act network and service-management solutions.

As the market leader in wireless services in Thailand - with more than 23 million subscribers and a market share of more than 50 per cent - AIS wants high-performance and reliable solutions to launch new, advanced mobile services while maintaining tight control over its total cost of ownership in network deployment.

KBank helps finance condo

Kasikornbank has joined a Bt4.14-billion loan syndicate to finance Millennium Residence, a condominium project on Sukhumvit Road.

Also participating are Bank of Ayudhya and TMB Bank, with each of the three banks providing Bt1.38 billion.

The parties believe city condominiums will enjoy continued demand in the property market.

Construction of Millennium is 20-per-cent complete.

As of last December, 179 units, or 59 per cent of its 302 units in two towers, had been sold.
