Somtam Express wins Langkawi title

Raimon Land's aptly named Somtam Express continued its winning form by blitzing its rivals in the recent Royal Langkawi International Regatta in Malaysia.

Published on February 1, 2008

Fresh from its convincing victory in the 2007 Phuket King's Cup - a regatta also sponsored by Raimon Land - the yacht sailed the 120-nautical mile journey from Phuket to Langkawi during the January 5-11 event in the sports-boat division against a fleet of nine other sports-class yachts.

Skippered by Scott Duncanson, Somtam Express won the sixth annual Royal Langawi International Regatta, where 40 racing yachts competed in nine different classes for trophies presented by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Ahmed Badawi.

Raimon Land CEO Nigel Cornick said: "Raimon Land leads the pack as a property developer in this part of the world, and having an association with an appropriately named yacht that has also finished at the head of its field at its last two regattas is a great association for us and for Thailand."
