Wrangyer is the maker and distributor of 'Wrangyer' brand energy drink and 'Black Up' ready-to-drink coffee.
Through its subsidiary Maharas Agri Co Ltd, ThaiBev is set to make its first market presence in energy drink and ready-to-drink coffee segments with this acquisition, the company said in a press statement.
The acquired assets include tangible and intangible operation assets used in manufacture of Wrangyer energy drink and the trademarks and formulas used in 'Black Up' ready-to-drink coffee, as well as the un-planted land for construction of the coffee factory in the future.
Wrangyer has been one of the leading players in the local energy-drink market for more than 10 years. Its factory in Nakhon Pathom Province has a capacity of nearly 400 million units a year. Currently, it hires other manufacturers to produce the ready-to-drink coffee.
"The acquisition of these well-known brands expands our range of non-alcoholic beverages and strengthens our overall position as a leading beverage player in Thailand", said Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, president of ThaiBev.
ThaiBev will also increase the capital of Maharas Agri from 2 million baht to 200 million baht by injecting an additional cash of Bt198 million. The proceeds will be utilised to finance the acquisition.
