EXPORT
Export target maintained
The Commerce Ministry has maintained the export growth target of 10-12.5 per cent this year, despite the volatile baht and the slowdown in the US and global economy.
Rachane Pojanasuntorn, director-general of the Export Promotion Department, said that the export value would rise to US$165-$169 billion as expected as the public and private sectors have adjusted their strategies to overcome negative factors.
With close monitoring of the Thai baht by the Bank of Thailand, he believed that the exports would continue the rosy movement in the first quarter.
"Exports in January should be valued no less than $13-$14 billion," he said.
In February, trade counsels from around the world would brainstorm in Bangkok to adjust the strategies in penetrating new markets.
