The company was founded in 2006 out of the need for car inspection for the second-hand market. Currently, it has only one branch on Srinakarin Road that opened with an investment of Bt50 million.
"This business is quite new in Thailand. But we continue our expansion as we have received a good response from the public sector, consumers and second-hand car dealers," said managing director Shay Garini.
He said the second-hand market had been growing, as purchasing power was not as good as it used to be.
TestCar has a long-term plan to open at least one branch in each province. However, Garini declined to disclose more details.
More consumers are interested in the car-inspection service due to safety concerns on the road. Garini said used-car dealers were not compelled to submit reports on the condition of their vehicles to buyers. They have been reluctant to divulge true information about the condition of their cars.
Increasing demand for independent inspections is, therefore, caused by consumers wanting to get an honest report about their target car's condition before purchase.
Garini said he would approach leasing companies and insurance firms, highlighting the scope of the company's services.
