A ceremony to mark the former Army chief's time as interim PM will be held at the Thai Ku Fah building.

Surayud's term will formally expire once newly elected prime minister Samak Sundaravej leads his Cabinet for a swearing-in before His Majesty the King on Tuesday.

However, ministers from the Surayud administration are still vacating Government House.

Yesterday officials were ordered to pack their belongings up to help them make room for the new Cabinet members.

Justice Minister Charnchai Likitjitta said he had already taken his things out of the ministry to make room for his replacement.

He said ministry permanent secretary Charan Phakdithanakul would wait to welcome the new minister.

Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Minister Paiboon Wattanasiritham said he hoped the new government would uphold good governance standards.

Somchai Wongsawat, the brother-in-law of Thaksin Shinawatra, sent an aide yesterday to check on his new office in Government House. Somchai is expected to be a deputy prime minister and culture minister.
