Danai beats bopanna

Danai Udomchoke won the rain-interrupted first-round match against India's Rohan Bopanna in the US$50,000 China TCL Challenger in Guangzhou yesterday.

The fifth-seeded Thai managed three service breaks to oust the Indian 6-2 6-4 in the match that was moved indoors due to persistent rain.

"I was a bit nervous having to play indoors because it would suit his game more. But I was serving well the whole match and that made it easier for me,'' said Danai who also teamed up with American Phillip King to beat Ma Ya-nan and Wu Di of China 6-2 6-2 in the doubles first round. Danai next plays Denmark's Frederik Nielsen in the singles second round today.
