All types of petrol, including gasohol, will charge 30 satang per litre more, although 91-octane petrol will increase by 50 satang. The Oil Fund earlier demanded an additional contribution from 91-octane sales of 20 satang per litre.

The diesel price will be raised 20 satang, while biodiesel will go up 40 satang following the scrapping of subsidies for pure biodiesel. The new diesel price is Bt29.14 per litre.

Meanwhile, cooking gas will be raised 20 satang per kilogram under the new pricing formula. A 15kg tank will cost Bt273.15, up Bt3. A 48kg tank will rise Bt9.60 to Bt874.08, said PTT. 

Rice ban stays

The Commerce Ministry has extended a ban on moving rice from place to place for another year as part of its policy to prevent quality being hit by mixing.

The ministry designed the measure to ensure fair practices between farmers, consumers and traders in terms of price and quality. Under the restrictions, paddy rice and rice exceeding 5 tonnes cannot be transferred.

As the price of jasmine rice continues to rise, it is feared traders may mix Pathum Thani rice, which has a similar smell and taste to jasmine rice, and sell it at the same price.

RS warning

RS warned yesterday that any media using Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010 content would have to pay it a copyright fee.

The company has won all management rights to these famous football events.

Sutthisak Prasatkrarukarn, director of the Law Suppression Department of RS subsidiary Thai Copyright Collection, said the company would collect copyright fees for the events.
