The party's executives will have a meeting tomorrow and discuss whether to nominate Abhisit for the post on Monday. Yet Suthep admitted that nothing unexpected would happen when coalition MPs voted for the next PM on the day.
"I believe nobody will dare do anything, because the election will be done through open balloting. Nobody will have the courage to vote against the coalition's stand," Suthep said.
However, Suthep said the problems in the negotiation of ministers' seats for coalition parties were expected and would not be easily solved as the real decision-maker was in Hong Kong and not in the PPP.
Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is currently in Hong Kong.
Commenting on the ministerial posts, Suthep said it was hard to predict the political movement at the moment. He said Defence Minister General Boonrawd Somtas was a good man but it is unlikely the PPP would let him remain in the position.
