Bus tour of Thaksin country

A website supporting Thaksin Shinawatra - www.clubthaksin.com - is organising a trip to Chiang Mai, the ousted prime minister's home town, from February 7 to 9.

The website sent members text messages advertising the tour, billed as "tracing the Thaksin trail and meeting northern people". The bus trip can accommodate 48. The cost is estimated at between Bt4,000 and Bt4,500 a person.

The tour leaves from Supachalasai Stadium at 6am and is expected to arrive in Chiang Mai later that evening. A visit to the Night Safari is planned.

According to the schedule, the tour will visit Thaksin's home town in San Kamphaeng district on February 9.

It said visitors might speak with Thaksin via videoconference during the trip.
