Suan Sil Baan Din Art Centre and Patravadi Theatre host an art festival this weekend in Photharan, Rachaburi.

 Designed to promote the beauty of Thai art and culture, Suan Sil Baan Din Art Centre and Patravadi Theatre will hold the festival All About Arts at the Chet Samian train station community in Photharam district of Ratchaburi province.

The festival features a variety of contemporary dance shows by international and Thai artists from Patravadi Theatre, Thai traditional musical performances by local artists and a free screening of film depicting rural lifestyle of Chet Samian inhabitants by video graphic designer Sirithorn Srichalakom. There is also a wide range of artworks by local artists on offer.

The festival runs from tomorrow until Sunday, from 4pm. Admission is free.

Off the ground

Dublin-based Pallas Contemporary Projects is presenting videos made by contemporary Irish artists in "Heavier Than Air Flying Machines are Impossible" at William Warren Library, Jim Thompson Art Centre until February 2.

The exhibition connects a cycle that started with "Head or Tail" contemporary video work from Thailand, curated by Gridthiya Gaweewong and Michael Shaowanasai, that was exhibited in Pallas Contemporary Projects' gallery in Dublin late last year.

On display are Fiona Whitty's "Waiting room", Aideen Barry's "Levitating", Anne Maree's "Covered Road", Cliona Harmey's "Seneca", Kelly O'Connor's "Navigating the "Mortgage", Daren Bolger's "Benzo Dreams" and Gavin Murphy's "Sketches for a Light/Heavy Monument".

The Jim Thompson House is on Soi Kasemsan 2, opposite Bangkok's National Stadium on Rama I Road. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

Dance away

British DJ John

Digweed is coming to Bangkok for the first time. He will present music for dancing on Thursday at Club Culture on Sri Ayutthaya Road.

In 2002 Digweed made the soundtrack for the film "Stark Raving Mad". This year his music will be featured in the movie adaptation of Irvine Welsh's best-selling novel "Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance".

Tickets are Bt850, (Bt750 before 10.30pm) and Bt650 (for Culture One Dance Music Festival ticket holders), and inclusive of a drink. ID required.
