Tesco opens 2nd Green Store

Tesco Lotus on Friday opened Tesco Lotus Salaya, the company's second "Green Store", a 27,000 square metre hypermarket and shopping mall in Salaya district, Nakhon Pathom province.

"This store, with an investment of over 800 million baht, will be our most technologically advanced in terms of environmental conservation and energy saving. It is indeed a community building for the new era." said Tesco chairman Sunthorn Arunanondchai.

Aside from aiming to provide the best shopping experience for customers in Salaya and neighbouring communities, with a full size supermarket and 96 shops in the mall area, the store has been especially designed and built to achieve a 40 per cent reduction in the company's carbon footprint and 30 per cent reduction in energy costs.

This second "Green Store" is an extension of the learning acquired from the company's first "Green Store" on Rama 1 Road, built in 2004.
