Trade officials meet late Feb
The Export Promotion Department will host a meeting with trade promotion chiefs from 53 overseas office late February to review Thailand's export outlook.
The department's director-general Rachane Pojanasuntorn said on Friday that they would also need to come up with contingency measures to accommodate the likely slowdown in the global economy following the US sub-prime crisis.
The trade promotion chiefs would be instructed to explore new markets to promote Thai products and services.
On Thailand Development Research Institute's estimate that Thailand's exports could expand only 7-8 per cent this year, Rachane expressed his confidence that the export growth would be 10-12.5 per cent as targeted.
