Thai bourse up on good news

The SET was up by 2.46 per cent to 746.53 at midday on Friday, following the US Congress's approval to the White House's tax measures.

The US$150 billion tax measures will benefit 117 million households in the US. The approval eased worries on the impacts of US sub-prime crisis on the US and global economy. The leading blue chip Dow Jones Industrial Average on Thursday finished up 108.44 points (0.88 per cent) at 12,378.61, extending the market's gains to a second day after five losing sessions.

Siam City Securities expected the Thai market to gain some of yesterday's losses. The trading value in the morning session was at Bt8.21 billion.

PTT was the most active stock rising 4.86 per cent to Bt302, while PTT Exploration and Production was up by 3.85 per cent to Bt135. Banpu rose 3.24 per cent to Bt382, while PTT Aromatics and Refining was up by 2.08 per cent to Bt36.75. - The Nation
