Saha Group adjusts strategy

Saha Group chairman Boonsithi Chokwatana is adjusting the company's business strategy following the formation of the new government.

Published on January 25, 2008

He said the current market condition was gloomy and purchasing power stagnant. So far this year, the Saha Group has raised the price of its Mama instant noodles. It is also looking to increase prices of other products in line with costs, a price adjustment he believes will be acceptable.

Boonsithi admitted the group's finances were in poor condition, due partially to the US sub-prime crisis. This year, it will focus more on other markets, including in Asia.

Air Link ruling

The State Railway of Thailand's board yesterday approved a 190-day extension for the Bt25.9-billion Airport Rail Link project.

Chairman Charnwut Watcharapuk said the board also agreed to consider a request for a longer period. The consortium, led by B Grim International and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, have until February 3 to file a request.

"If they want a longer period, they need a good reason; otherwise, the matter will be settled in court," Charnwut said.

Request to clarify

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has demanded that Bliss-Tel clarify its share allotment by private placement by next Tuesday.

Bliss-Tel must explain why shareholders disapproved the capital increase. The company must also state the necessity for the capital increase, along with its objectives and specific time frames. The SET also asked why Bliss-Tel chose private placement over other alternatives and who proposed the private placement.

Bliss-Tel must also clarify why the company's investment portfolio exceeded the investment line that the company had previously presented to the SET.
