Hewitt to lead Australia against Taiwan

Melbourne (dpa) - Lleyton Hewitt will aim to bounce back from his fourth-round Australian Open defeat as he leads his nation into a Davis Cup Asia/Oceania first round tie against Taiwan next month.

Hewitt, ranked 22nd, was named on Wednesday by captain John Fitzgerald along with Chris Guccione (91), Alun Jones (137), doubles specialist Paul Hanley (10 in doubles) and Joseph Sirianni (146).

The tie will be played on hard court in Kaohsiung February 8-10.

"We have picked the team we think is best placed to beat Taiwan on their outdoor hard court," Fitzgerald said Wednesday.

"We know that they have some good players, they are a dangerous opponent and we will need to play well to win this tie.

"We're all very determined to use this tie to begin our climb back into the World Group."
